Awali Golf Club’s competition playing season ended last Friday with the traditional Captain v President Team matchplay event.
Fourteen matches between playing pairs were contested and the results highlighted a balanced encounter between the sides, with 10 of the matches either halved or won with a score of 1-up.
As master of ceremonies and Club Captain Abdul Elah Fakhroo announced the 12th result, the standing was all-square. But his smile gave it away, announcing the last two results as a win to the Captain’s team and an overall result in favour of the Captain by 8 to 6, thus making amends for the President’s win last September at the season-opening President v Captain Team matchplay event.
Tournament director Bill Scarth was praised for his efforts, with the announcement that the new competition season will commence in September.
