All is red and rosy in the world of Ferrari and the marque has unveiled its latest behemoth at an exclusive event in the kingdom.
The prancing horse galloped into the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay as Euro Motors unwrapped the Ferrari 488 GTB at a glittering ceremony attended by 300 Ferrari executives, dignitaries, media representatives and car enthusiasts.
Proceedings opened with Enzo Ferrari’s famous ‘My favourite Ferrari is the next one’ quote, and when the cloth was eventually pulled back on the sleek red beast, there wasn’t a person in the room to doubt that statement.
The genesis of Maranello’s latest creation was explored in full, such as how the V8 turbo engine was pieced together part-by-part to create a monster that can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just three seconds.
The car was shown to the audience by managing director for Euro Motors, Nawaf Zayani, alongside Georgio Turri, the marque’s regional sales director.
Mr Zayani said: “It isn’t just about the power in the engine, it’s about the torque too. With 760Nm from just 2000rpm, this particular model is capable of previously undreamed of acceleration. This is a full-blooded track performance in a car designed for the road.”
On the outside, the design increases aerodynamic efficiency, helped by the sculptural flanks, but retains the pure line styling that have become the Ferrari tradition.
The front features a double spoiler reminiscent of F1 cars, while the rear is dominated by a blown spoiler and two huge air vents to increase air flow.
