Despite extremely hot and humid weather, the 10th annual Think Pink Bahrain Charity Golf Day was a huge success once again with men’s and ladies tournaments being hosted by the Royal Golf Club.

The team of Hanne Hansen, Dena Wales, Robin Bugeja and Debbie Lane clinched first place in the ladies 18-hole tournament, played on the Montgomerie championship course, with 54 points.

The duo of Kavitha Pantnulu and Johanna Hassett narrowly took second place with 51 points on countback while Hilde Kwik, Jan Watson, Anne Timmers and Sara Axtell came in third with the same score.

The trio of Diana Vidrine, Guiliana Love and Linda Reith won the ladies 9-hole competition on the par 3 Mini Monty course with 33 points and Linda received an additional prize for winning a ‘nearest the pin’ side contest.

Male golfers competed in a 9-hole Night Golf event on the same evening on the back 9 holes of the championship course. The team of Rob Lane, Nils Berge, Dave Garbutt and Ben Elsworth emerged winners with a nett score of 28.2 and nearest the pin side contests on holes 12 and 16 were won by Ben Elsworth and David Wales, respectively.

“On behalf of the Think Pink Bahrain committee I would like to thank everyone who supported this important event, from the competitors to the many sponsors,” said Jules Sprakel, the founder of Think Pink Bahrain.

“Special thanks to Seef Dental who not only sponsored the golf shirts for both events but also the lunch for the ladies at the post event presentation and for ongoing support from Gulf Brands International and Aqua Cool for on-course refreshments and at both presentations. Thanks as well to the hole sponsors – SICO, Reza Hygiene, RCSI Bahrain, ASRY, Behbehani Brothers, AECOM, Takhzeen and AXA – and to the many prize sponsors.”

The money raised from this year’s golf day will be directed to locally-centred breast cancer research as well as to continuing the battle to raise awareness of the importance of regular breast checks.
