One of my favourite elements of the expat lifestyle is the abundance of fast food delivery services. Today as I contemplate picking items from the pile of fast food menus on my family’s kitchen table, dreaming of enjoying my usual blow-out, I start to worry.

Don’t get me wrong, I love fast food – from burgers to pizzas – but when does it become too much of a good thing?

Coming ahead of other countries in the obesity ratio stakes with almost half the population labelled dangerously overweight, perhaps we are failing to appreciate just how easy it is to access cheap fatty food without even moving from the chair.

New delivery apps on our mobile devices don’t help either in a country trying to slim down, but perhaps more of us need to space out the takeaways and stop taking comfort food for granted.

I may be a sucker for the widespread amount of fare available in Bahrain but today I’m going to restrain myself and enjoy a healthy smoothie instead. I would recommend readers try it too. If you’re feeling hungry, don’t be lazy Bahrain … be smooth.
