THE 2016 Maxima was unveiled Bond-style during a media and customer launch extravaganza at the YK Almoayyed & Sons Nissan showroom in Sitra.
A cool dude and a leggy babe stepped out of the car as cameras flashed during its dramatic entrance centre stage. The completely redesigned eighth generation model is the sportiest and most powerful ever built by the marque.
Its designers say they used the Blue Angels US Navy’s flight demonstration squadron, with aviators from the Navy and Marines, as their inspiration to reinforce the brand’s ‘feel again’ slogan, one of many catch-phrases being used to seduce the audience.
Nissan’s general manager Junji Akiyama, described the model as the ‘sportiest most powerful Maxima ever and a real game changer’ adding that it had been created ‘by driving enthusiasts, for driving enthusiasts’ and ‘looks like nothing else on the road today’ compared to other large sedans.
The company is convinced it drives as good as it looks. At its heart is a responsive 3.5 L VQ Series V6 engine that generates an impressive 300 horsepower. This power-plant is complemented by a new performance-oriented Xtronic transmission that allows for faster acceleration.
The redesigned interior is anchored by a command centre like a racing car’s cockpit and incorporates bespoke craftsmanship. The interior matches that which many luxury vehicles offer and aims to provide an exhilarating experience for both driver and passengers alike.

The launch event was also attended by other representatives from Nissan’s global headquarters and its regional office, alongside YK Almoayyed & Sons’ executives.
