The kingdom will be united on Friday as embassies, clubs, societies, organisations and directorates come together to celebrate the island as one harmonious community at the Bahrain for All, All for Bahrain Festival.
Prince Khalifa Park in Hidd will come alive as more than 40 embassies, clubs, societies, and organisations, including 12 directorates of the Ministry of Interior (MOI), are participating.
Last year, the festivities attracted crowds of more than 50,000. Organiser Nivedita Dhadphale, said: “This event showcases the cultural diversity of all the people that call Bahrain home. We will once again bring them all together for a day of fun, fostering a spirit of unity in diversity.”
“This year there will be dedicated areas for community groups such as Hidd Rehabilitation Centre, Think Pink, WWIC, the Bahrain Association for Parents and Friends of the Disabled, Saudi-Bahraini Institute of the Blind, the Bahraini Association for Downs Syndrome and others who will sell handmade items to raise funds and awareness.
“We are very grateful to the Court of HRH the Prime Minister, the Muharraq Municipal Council, the Muharraq Municipality and the Ministry of Interior for their continued support,” added Nivedita. “The theme ‘unity in diversity’ is our ethos, and describes the Bahrain leadership’s openness to everyone from all walks of life.”
The fifth edition of the Bahrain for All, All for Bahrain event will feature live shows including performances by Hamad ‘Mystro’ Al Fardan, DJ Westlife and comedian Ali ‘Fingerz’ Al Esbai. There will also be more than 250 market stalls and raffle draws.
A community art project led by Bahrain-based Indian artist VR Sathyadev aims to tell a story about Bahrain. He will be joined by artists from various communities painting sections of a giant sketch and then the canvas pieces will be put together on display.
The festival, running from from 4pm to 10pm, will also have a children’s area hosted by GulfWeekly’s own Mai Al-Khatib-Camille.
