A common mistake when playing in windy conditions is that amateur golfers try and swing the club too hard by thinking it will power the ball through the wind. WRONG! When swinging the club faster you will put more spin on the ball which will increase the height the ball will go and in turn the flight will be more affected by the wind.
So next time you play into a gusty wind grip slightly down on the club, play the ball from the middle or slightly back of middle in the stance and make a nice and easy three-quarter swing while trying to minimise wrist action through the shot.
