Today (June 7)

An interactive exhibition is being held at the Bahrain National Museum highlighting Bahraini-British relations. The exhibition runs until end of August.

 

Tomorrow (June 8)

Saar Mall will be hosting a Gergaoun event on Thursday at 8.30pm on the first floor featuring competitions, games for children and candy being handed out by a group of elderly from the Abdulrahman Kanoo Senior Social Club. 

There will also be a DJ among other Gergagoun related activities and the ceremony will be unveiled by Jalal Kazim, member of the parliament. The event is organised in collaboration with Saar Mall management and 7elm Ensan, a group of volunteers.

 

The Manama Singers, under the direction of Leah Churchill, will be performing a concert of spirituals and popular hymns at St Christopher’s Cathedral on at 6pm. The programme includes hymns such as All things bright and beautiful and God be in My Head and among several spirituals Swing Low Sweet Chariot, Balm in Gilead and Down by the Riverside.

The concert is to be held as part of the Cathedral Concerts series and tickets are BD5 with children able to attend for free.

It will be an especially poignant occasion for singing stalwart Elizabeth George who, after 20 years of living and working in Bahrain, will finally be leaving, returning to Bangalore on the following day to spend more time with her family. She has been a member of Manama Singers for 19 years.

 

Saturday (June 10)

Tekkers Academy Bahrain is staging an evening of football, fitness and fun at RCSI in Busaiteen from 9pm-11pm, plus a variety of stalls run by female entrepreneurs.

The aim is to raise funds and awareness of the Equal Playing Field initiative, supported by coach Deena Shipwright who will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and playing in the highest altitude game of football ever played, as reported by GulfWeekly. It’s BD2 to enter and to book a stall costs BD15.

Monday (June 12)

The Bahrain Writers’ Circle will be staging events during the month of June and newcomers are welcome to join the gatherings at Umami Restaurant, Adliya. They take place at 7.30pm today, Tuesday and June 19.
