A large-scale food donation drive across the kingdom has been launched by The Conserving Bounties Society, to support more than 1,500 individuals, families and labourers with well-balanced meals sourced from large-gathering events and venues.

The society has made significant progress in reaching out to the community and has garnered support from VIVA Bahrain, Yousif & Aysha Y.K. Almoayyed charity foundation, Al Zayani investment, Bahrain Credit as logistic and financial supporters. Food is donated by the Gulf Hotel, Sheraton Hotel, Downtown Rotana, Alosra supermarket and Paul Cafe (Seef Mall and Bahrain City Centre) for collaboration on this programme and have successfully raised an incredible number of 90,000 meals, within just first few months of their collaboration.

In Ramadan alone, the initiative reached out to more than 200 families in Budaiya, Hamad Town, and Muharraq; and 1,500 blue-collar workers across four labour camps in Sitra, Muharraq and Manama, to distribute over 11,903 food parcels gathered through 150 events.

The society also recently announced its panel of new board members, led by Abdullatif Al Rajhi as the Chairman, VIVA’s Chief Government Affairs Officer, Shaikh Zeyad bin Faisal Al Khalifa as the society’s Vice-Chairman; VIVA’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Layla Janahi as the Financial Secretary of the society; Narjis al Qaseer, the secretary and Dr Amal Al Qusaibi, Bader Kanoo and Amal Almoayyed as Board Members of the society. All have played an instrumental role in establishing the society.

In an effort to generate more meals and benefit a larger audience, the Conserving Bounties Society is also calling on the local community - including corporates, hotels/restaurants, supermarkets, and individuals – to come forward and contribute towards the cause. Interested parties can contact the society on 33499499 to get more details on the initiative.

Guess what? We have finished the Think Pink Bahrain ribbon tying for the Longest Ribbon Challenge as part of our annual breast cancer awareness campaign. However, now we need people to step up and volunteer to help us with this event which will be held on September 23 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre. At the moment we have 200 people registered to carry the ribbon but we need more than 1,000 to hopefully help break the world record for having the longest ribbon. What are you waiting for? Email registration@thinkpinkbahrain.com with your name, mobile and a copy of your CPR to be part of this milestone with us. Let’s break the record! It takes a community to get this project accomplished.
