On Sunday, Nikki Hunter, Rob Lane, Ben Stimson and Philip Waine aka ‘The 100 Team’ will all attempt to complete 100 holes of golf in one day to raise donations for breast cancer awareness.
To boost the initiative on the day, there will also be a 100 Relay where members and guests can pay a minimum donation entry fee of BD25 to compete and play behind the 100 Team. This will be a ‘first come, first serve’ basis and the sign-up sheet has been placed on the club’s noticeboard.
In loving memory of the late Debbie Lane, players can speculate what The 100 Team (which aims to tee-off around 4.30am) score will be after the first 55 holes with double points on the 15th hole. Each speculation will be BD5.
Popular Debbie, one of the island’s top golfers, passed away during the summer. She was the Royal Golf Club’s (RGC) 2011 Lady Captain and helped raise more than BD8,000 organising a successful Think Pink Bahrain Ladies Charity Golf Day. GulfWeekly reported how Rob’s wife had led her team to victory on the championship course with a net score of 62.5 in an 18-hole Texas Scramble competition.
A special ‘happy hour’ will take place in the Members Lounge after the event to announce the winners and the amount raised from this unique event, with The 100 Team expecting to finish at around 8.30pm, said Stephen Havrilla, the RGC’s general manager, in the club’s October newsletter
