First of all, ‘thank you’ to everyone who supported in any shape or form last Friday’s BSPCA / Granada Gardens Garden Party, as the event could not have been the success that it was without all of you.

More than 100 guests attended. We raised exceptional awareness for the charity and our target of BD2,500 was reached and donations were still being made even after the event.

Also special thanks to the British ambassador Simon Martin and his family for taking time out of their busy schedule to attend and support, and once again, congratulations on winning the wonderful painting kindly painted, autographed and donated by a Granada Gardens resident and artist Meriel Cooper.

Large quantities of dog food were contributed for the animal shelter and many items donated for the BSPCA Thrift Shop, which will be sold to raise additional funds.

We would also like to mention that Alosra (BMMI) donated 100 scones from its in-store bakery, plus jam, cream and a selection of teas for our traditional English Afternoon Tea stand.

The garden party was also supported by GPIC, Al Jazira, Bed & Biscuits, Nonie Coutts, The Gulf Hotel, GBI, British Club, Ellie & Jean Hair Salon, Aloe Alive, Lanterns, Euro Motors, Reflections Salon, Delmon Boarding Kennels and by all who attended or contributed in any shape or form.

Chaine des Rotisseurs hosted a reception for leading hospitality figures at the Crowne Plaza, Bahrain last Sunday to announce the Bahrain Chapter’s ‘Culinary Arts & Hospitality Entrepreneur Awards’ which will take place in the kingdom in December.

Inspired by the world famous ‘Jeunes Chefs Rotisseurs Competition’ hosted by Chaine des Roitsseurs International since 1977, this new initiative will consist of several categories such as ‘The Young Chef of The Year’ and ‘The Foodie Entrepreneur of The Year’ with several additional award categories to celebrate all areas of the culinary arts and to encourage young people to showcase and develop their talents in this field.

Bahrainis are known the world over for their legendary hospitality and our culture is liberally peppered with delicious dishes, with family recipes and traditions being passed down through the generations.

We want to ensure this rich heritage is not lost and through the new Culinary Arts & Hospitality Entrepreneur Awards we will support, encourage and develop these wonderful talents and see Bahrain continue to offer the warmest welcome and the most unforgettable hospitality experiences whilst contributing to our economy, showcasing entrepreneurs, highlighting career opportunities and supporting our growing Tourism industry.

All sectors of the hospitality industry are invited to participate from hotels, restaurants, cafes, food and beverage suppliers, to Bahraini producers of foodstuffs, cake and pastry designers, mixologists, baristas, and organic and healthy foodstuffs.
