The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) is set
to host a summer series of LEGO SHOWS, plus appearances by star characters from
children’s TV channel Cartoon Network, at the Bahrain International Exhibition
and Convention Centre during Eid Al Adha.
The LEGO SHOWS aim to bring to life the world of LEGO under
one roof and will feature millions of bricks, huge sculptures and models from
August 22 until August 31. The popular toy brick building brands such as
Ninjago, City, Duplo, Friends and Star Wars will be present, alongside build
challenges and obstacle courses.
LEGO was invented in 1932 by Danish entrepreneur Ole Kirk
Christiansen and is inspired by the Danish ‘leg godt’ which means ‘play well’.
At the last count, 600 billion Lego parts had been produced at a rate of 5.2
million per hour.
The group began developing the interlocking toy bricks in
1949 and since then it has created a global subculture with supporting movies,
games and competitions. Six LEGOLAND amusement parks have been developed under
the brand name and LEGO replaced Ferrari as Brand Finance’s ‘world’s most
powerful brand’.
Simultaneously, the kingdom is also set to host the Cartoon
Network Live! Heroes Unite show which will run for four days from August 23 –
26.
The production brings together an international,
award-winning creative team to put on a stage show for audiences of all ages
featuring the channel’s most popular heroes such as Ben 10, The Amazing World
of Gumball, Adventure Time and The Powerpuff Girls.
Hosting this event comes in line with BTEA’s strategy to
further develop the kingdom’s tourism sector and strengthen it under the slogan
of ‘Ours. Yours.’
