The Belgian Club of Bahrain is ushering in the season of spring and new beginnings in festive form at the Gulf Hotel Bahrain Convention & Spa tomorrow with an evening of feasting, entertainment and fun.

Guests will be welcomed to The Belgian Spring Festival with a BBQ buffet, a live cooking station and inclusive of selected beverages from 7.30pm to 10.30pm for BD24net.  After 10.30pm, there will be with music and dance.

The event is being organised by the Belgian Club with the aim of bringing its community members together in a social atmosphere as well as sharing the beauty of the Western European country with others.

Jean Nicolai, the founder of SteppingStone Global, Martine Kindt, the founder of Kappa Konsults and expat Dianne Peersman came up with the concept.

“The idea is to bring Belgians and friends, so non-Belgians are most welcome too, together for cordial dinner and drinks.” said mother-of-two Dianne, who only arrived to the kingdom two months ago and is delighted to be assisting Jean and Martine in getting the club going.

“Having lived in Belgium, Germany, Uzbekistan, France, Dubai, China, India, Switzerland and Vietnam, I consider myself a world citizen,” she added. “In every location it was my aim to help or start a Belgium Club and there are supposedly around 120 Belgians here in Bahrain.

“We Belgians are renowned for combining business and pleasure. One of the concepts we’re now playing with is a Belgian Mussels evening in the near future.

“There are a lot of things to be told about Belgium, the little artificial buffer-state between giants Germany, the Netherlands and France. We make sure to stand our ground in many domains and, although we may be divided by language barriers, we are a small country that has a lot to offer.”
