It’s going to be motor mania in Dubai in November as automakers from around the world will be featuring a series of vehicles, as well as drones and Hyperloop technology at the exhibit.
The Dubai International Motor Show, which will be launched at Dubai World Trade Centre on November 12 and 16, features more than one billion dirhams worth of family cars, supercars and Hypercars with the message to “Buckle up for big surprises”. The biennial event gears-up to offer visitors a thrill ride into the future of mobility with era defining tech, fully immersive VR/AR and some of the rarest cars all coming together to create the most exciting five-day meet in the region’s motoring calendar.
Show director, Andrew Wingrove, said: “Without question, this year’s Dubai International Motor Show will be the most advanced and experience-oriented in our 30-year history.
“Since our last edition, we’ve seen the synergy between driving, motoring and the AI-led technologies at the heart of our future living. This is a shift that has gone well beyond digital dashboard add-ons to now being the mastermind behind how our vehicles operate and even communicate on the road, with experts predicting there will be 220 million 5G-connected cars on the road by 2024. Transformation like this is forcing us to rethink the entire concept of driving and transport.”
Organisers invite motoring aficionados to come out and check out the transformative smart car technology on show, the Virgin Hyperloop One, virtual reality test drives and augmented reality concept car launches.
This year’s show will feature the world’s biggest international manufacturers from Asia to the US, showcasing their latest models including Gargash, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Ferrari, Maserati, Lincoln, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, Mitsubishi and many more.
In exploring the theme of ‘Future Mobility’, the show has collaborated with vehicle design and prototype futurists Italdesign to bring two unique concepts to light.
The first will be the Pop.Up Next VR Experience, which will take visitors on a thrilling inner-city drone flight through and above the streets of Dubai, exhibiting how this hyper-modern mode of transport could go on to change how we travel. The group’s state-of-the-art 3D modelling studio will then demonstrate how – by endlessly refining their digital capabilities – Italdesign’s team of creatives can quite literally sculpt a car from start to finish in a 3D virtual environment, allowing unrivalled opportunities in vehicle design and alteration.
Also on show throughout the event’s five-days will be a debut up-close look inside the capsule concept for the proposed Dubai to Abu Dhabi Hyperloop – the vacuumed tube capable of firing passenger pods at speeds of up to 1,080kmph.
As for car model launches, one of the major debuts includes the record-breaking Aspark OWL: an all-electric Japanese Hypercar powered by 1,150 horsepower and capable of going from 0-100kmph in less than two seconds.
The OWL, currently in production in Osaka, is the fastest electric car ever made promising buyers a top speed of 280kmph, with 300km of range on a full charge.
Masanori Yoshida, president and CEO at Aspark, explained: “The Aspark OWL is the fastest high performance, zero-emission electric supercar ever seen. It is the first ever Japanese EV Hypercar and promises to be one of the most powerful cars ever made. The Middle East is going to be a major market for Aspark vehicles.”
Zedro SAL, a Lebanese luxury and concept car manufacturer, will be also attending to launch its brand new, 1250Hp, customisable Notorious, while HongQi – another chic car marque owned by China’s FAW Car Company – will unveil no less than six new models.
More than 20 of the most stunning Hypercars will also be on show, including a limited edition Bugatti Veyron, a US$10 million Lamborghini Veneno and a Gumpart Apollo S.
The event will also consist of live drifting, go-karting, a full test drive area for buyers keen to try out cars they have eyed-up at the show, and a host of celebrities on hand to share their tips.
The show will also feature a lounge by the Arabian Gazelles – the region’s first ladies-only supercar club – showcasing their powerful machines at a street meet, plus a busy schedule of fun activities for children including an augmented reality experience and a competition to draw the “Car of the Future”.
