The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) participated for the first time at the 26th edition of SATTE 2020, South Asia’s leading travel show in Delhi, India earlier this month.

The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by Dr Ali Follad consisted of a number of representatives from BTEA, Gulf Air, The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain, Al Areen Palace and Spa, and a number of travel agents.

The BTEA delegation met with a number of prominent travel companies specialised in organising conferences in India, including Easemytrip.com, Carewell Travels and Pegasus Investment.

Leading the delegation, Dr Ali, acting director of marketing and tourism promotion directorate at BTEA, said: “We are pleased with the success of our first participation in SATTE 2020, wherein over a period of three days we managed to hold a number of meetings with several organisations and authorities associated with the tourism sector in India, which were held with an aim to attract more tourist delegations and increase the number of visitors coming into to the kingdom of Bahrain.

“As we strive to promote the kingdom and enhance its position on the global tourism map, we look forward to participating in various regional and international events in the future.”

The BTEA’s delegation held a series of productive meetings in which they promoted Bahrain as a leading tourism destination for individuals, wedding celebrations and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE).

In addition, one lucky winner won two tickets to the Bahrain Grand Prix Formula 1 race, two airline tickets from Gulf Air and a stay at a five-star hotel, after participating in the ‘Fastest Lap’ competition, organised by the Bahrain Pavilion.

Each year, SATTE attracts more than 1,000 participants from more than 50 countries as well as 28 states and 90 cities from across India with an aim of promoting their tourism offerings and establishing commercial and business partnerships. The event draws decision makers, global travel and tourism companies, as well as representatives of government agencies and the Indian tourism market.

BTEA’s participation comes in line with its long-term strategy to further develop Bahrain’s tourism sector and strengthen its position on regional and international levels under the slogan of ‘Ours. Yours’, which contributes towards the kingdom’s economy and the 2030 Economic Vision.
