Wellness in the workplace is taking centre stage thanks to a private hospital’s partnership with high-tech firms, writes Naman Arora.

The American Mission Hospital has inked a deal with Soza Health UK and Bahrain-based Dhu3, to offer companies an opportunity to have their employees’ health assessed within an hour.

“At AMH, we now focus more on wellness initiatives because illness treatments can be avoided with healthy lifestyles,” said Dr George Cheriyan, AMH’s corporate chief executive.

“With organisations like Soza Health, which base their testing systems and algorithms on excellent medical research, we can show a health report card to customers so that they can take appropriate corrective steps in nutrition and fitness.”

Trained AMH staff can now visit workplaces that are interested in the programme and conduct Soza assessments on staff members, examining the health of heart, lungs, blood, kidneys, bladder and other body systems.

The Soza Health Assessment Programme’s insights have materialised from extensive research at UK-based Loughborough University, one of the world’s top ranked universities.

The test is designed to take 45 minutes to create an accurate picture of each staff member’s health. The Gulf Hotel Group and BKIC are amongst the companies that have already signed up.

“With 90 data readings taken in just over 35 minutes and loaded into Soza’s secure cloud system, each customer would know how his or her body is performing from the health rating they receive”, said Tim King, chief executive of SOZA Health UK, during his visit to Bahrain in October.
Interested companies can contact Renjith Thomas, the head of Corporate Medical Insurance to find out how this programme can benefit employers, employees and insurance companies.
