To call 2020 a bizarre year would be the understatement of the century... or perhaps that’s the only word that can capture its tumult and our relative triumph as a pandemic brought ‘new normal’ and ‘unprecedented times’ into our vernacular.

A year that started off with much excitement was quickly turned on its head due to the Covid-19 pandemic. And yet, we survived.

The GulfWeekly team itself went through some changes in order to adapt to the shifting economy. While continuing to inform our readers about key community events, we also focused on the positives - the ways young expats and Bahrainis were giving back to their communities, the artistic pursuits paying homage to medical workers and the ways every resident was finding to stay connected to friends and family.

We would like to wish our family of readers, advertisers, website visitors, social media friends and YouTube viewers a lovely and lively 2021.

As we head into a new decade, GulfWeekly continues to be the most home-delivered English-language weekly newspaper in the kingdom – so once again, a big ‘thank you’ for your continued support.

The GulfWeekly is delivered every Wednesday to homes, clubs and businesses across the kingdom. Many subscribers to our sister newspapers, the Gulf Daily News and Akhbar Al Khaleej also enjoy the GulfWeekly’s artistic and community features.

As the country goes through economic changes to prepare for the future and achieve His Majesty King Hamad’s Vision 2030, we have particularly enjoyed highlighting the work that young Bahrainis and expats have done within their communities to improve the kingdom.

Now in our 20th year of publication, we continue to offer local businesses a unique cost-effective multi-channel (print, online and social media) advertising platform to connect with our readers so they too can share in our success.

Our website www.gulfweekly.com has had thousands of visitors from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and even as far afield as the US, Canada and Europe. We are also part of the GDN Media group of platforms, providing greater reach for our advertisers and variety of content for our readers.

We remain ever grateful to our weekly contributors and look forward to bringing you even more stories affecting the kingdom’s diverse community, as we start to see signs of life returning to hotels, restaurants, car dealerships and other businesses across the kingdom.
