Bahrain-based award-winning artist Daphne Votanopoulou will be featuring her colourful canvases at a major art event in Paris on Friday along with creatives from around the world.

The 34-year-old, who works as the chief operations officer of TG Digital Marketing and lives in Seef, is thrilled to be the only Greek participant among the 450 artists and galleries at the three-day Art Shopping Paris, to  be held from March 31 to April 2 at Carousel du Louvre, Paris.

“It is an honour to be a part of one of the biggest art events of the year in the City of Light,” said the internationally acclaimed painter who enjoys dabbling in oil and acrylics as well as working with engravings.

“I will have 10 paintings featured which are big enough! It’s tough travelling, working and creating at the same time but I’m super excited that I have been accepted to showcase my works.”

Daphne, known for her expressionism and photorealism, was delighted when she received the call from the organisers, whilst in Greece, as it coincided with her being recognised by the Athens War Museum for her work.

“It was a very special moment for me and I couldn’t imagine that my day could be even better, and then I get the call,” she explained. “I was awarded by UNESCO Pireaus and Dreamteam, for my exhibition in Bahrain Bay entitled Daphne’s Showroom and my participation in the Art Awards night held at the War Museum.

“I can’t wait to display my work. Emotions, travels and cultures inspire me and cut deep within my soul. I’m a bit of a romantic.”

Her paintings such as Aphrodite of Milos, Victory of Samothrace and several others, recognised in previous exhibitions in Dubai, Switzerland, Greece, New York and Bahrain, will be on display.

Daphne studied graphics and arts and received her Bachelor’s degree from the Art and Design College at Middlesex University of London. She is also certified in the Management of Successful Arts and Cultural Organisations from the University of Maryland, US.
