Music fans have spoken and their favourite hit as of August 25 on Billboard is Miley Cyrus’s latest track Used to be Young.

The 30-year-old superstar’s reflective single brought in nearly 42 per cent of the vote, beating out new music by Selena Gomez called Single Soon, BLACKPINK’s The Girls, Ariana Grande’s Yours Truly (10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) and Zach Bryan’s Zach Bryan, and more.

Used to be Young marks Miley’s first piece of new music since the release of her eighth album, Endless Summer Vacation, which debuted at number 3 on Billboard 200 in March.

This ballad has definitely moved music fans and it’s probably because it shares the singer’s highs and lows over the years. In this track, she is reflecting on her headline-worthy past, while allowing herself much needed forgiveness to move on to the next phase of her life.

“I have spent the last 18 months painting a sonic picture of my perspective to share with you,” Miley shared on her Instagram in a post revealing the lyrics.

“The time has arrived to release a song that I could perfect forever. Although my work is done, this song will continue to write itself every day. The fact it remains unfinished is a part of its beauty. That is my life at this moment … unfinished yet complete.”

As for the other fan favourites, Selena, who shows off her fun and flirty side in her new song, trailed in second with 33pc of the vote.
