Actor Joe Keery is feeling strange about the conclusion of the popular American sci-fi drama television series.

While he knows it’s time for Stranger Things to come to an end, he is saddened by it coming to a close, yet grateful for the show that launched his career and provided him with amazing opportunities.

Joe, who plays Steve Harrington, shared his mixed emotions with a fashion journal as he considers the ending bittersweet.

“It does feel like it’s time,” he said. “It won’t be easy for it to end. I mean, I owe my whole career to being on that show and all the opportunities that I had since are because of that show. So it’s very convoluted. There’s a sense of relief, there’s a sense of sadness. I guess my goal is to just really soak it up as much as I can while we’re doing it, and not take any of it for granted because it’s been an amazing ride with such great people. And then once it’s done, move forward and try to just hold on to the joy that we had when we were making it. Everything has a beginning and a middle and an end. It’ll be nice to have the end of this too.”

Stranger Things was a breakout Netflix show featuring a gang of children living in Hawkins, Indiana that stumble across a supernatural mystery that leads to them fighting ferociously to keep their world safe.

The show, which has been a tent pole production for Netflix since 2016, earned critical and audience acclaim and became so popular that people even would decorate their homes for Halloween, like scenes from the show or dress up as the characters.

Much of the cast includes young actors, however, many of them have aged out of their roles.

Not to worry though as Stranger Things Season 5 features a time jump to explain why the characters look so much older.

This will be the final season for the show, allowing the cast to say their farewells and move on to other projects and prospects.

For example, instead of featuring 31-year-old Joe still playing the part of 19-year-old Steve, the show can allow him to naturally age out of the project, while still offering a moving conclusion to his story. As for when it will be released, the Duffer brothers had started writing Season 5 in August 2022.

Other cast members have hinted that filming could begin around mid-2023, which could indicate a possible late-2024 release date.
