The second of September will forever be a memorable moment for the people of Bahrain who were glued to their screens to watch their favourite finalist in Miss Universe Bahrain 2023 finally be crowned the beauty queen that everyone was waiting for.
Multi-talented teenager Lujane Yacoub, who was the youngest participant in the competition and last year’s first runner-up, won over the judges and fans with her genuine and giving nature, charismatic communication skills and can-do attitude…values that encompass what a true Miss Universe Bahrain is all about.
“Our new queen is quintessentially graced with passion, cocooned with courage and armoured with pursuit of love, sisterhood and kindness,” said Josh Yugen, owner and national director of Miss Universe Bahrain.
The finale, which was live-streamed globally on the official Miss Universe YouTube channel, featured the seven contestants in Mirihi Island Resort in the Maldives, competing in five segments including the personal interview, an activewear round, a swimwear session, the evening gown walk and the final question category.
While her beauty and character already captured the hearts of viewers, her final answer was what sealed the deal.
The 18-year-old Bahraini-American was asked what the biggest misconception about Bahrain was and how she planned to correct it.
“The biggest misconception about Bahrain and the Middle East is that it’s a place of oppression - women don’t have rights and this is far from the truth,” said the model and actress from Hamala. “Women are taught to thrive, to embrace their strengths, and go for their ambitions, and women - they are the true pearls of the country. And my first goal as Miss Universe is to clear up this misconception.”
Lujane’s motivational messages and charm also won her the LadyCode Ambassador title in the competition and Miss Great Lengths awards.
With a sparkle in her eye and goodness in her heart, this is only the beginning for the rising star.
