Fantastic news for Marvel Studio fans as the cast of four fighting heroes will be revealed ... once the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved, though.

While the strike continues, Marvel Studios cannot negotiate with actors, leaving director Matt Shakman unable to announce any members that will be playing the Fantatsic Four family in the upcoming movie. However, he is hopeful and looking forward to sharing the news with the eager Internet community. This has been his first update in eight months.

“We’re in the middle of a SAG strike, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they get a great deal really soon and we can go back, said Matt. “Then, once that’s resolved, there’ll be a plan at that point, but I can’t say too much. There will be an announcement at some point! I know that the Internet is very excited to find out, and I’m excited to share it. I just can’t do it yet.”

What we do know is that The Fantastic Four is an iconic Marvel team that has appeared on-screen before— in 2005 as Fantastic Four and in 2007 as Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. While the first movie built-up a hype when it came out, after 2007, it flamed out. Nonetheless, the franchise was eventually rebooted into 2015’s Fantastic Four, which was a critical box-office disaster.

It’s been two decades since the family — which consists of Mr Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Thing and the Human Torch — got back together and this time it will be starring in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speculation continues on who will be playing the characters.

Some reports point out that Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn were being considered to play Sue and Johnny Storm. Matt Smith (Doctor Who) and Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) have been rumoured to play Mr Fantastic while Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) might take on the role of the Thing.

Rumours are still spiralling that maybe Margot Robbie (Barbie) or Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer) will play the Invisible Woman and Paul Mescal (Gladiator 2) or Jack Quaid (The Boys) could appear as her brother.
