A MOVIE about George Santos’ career is currently in the works at HBO Films.
This comes days after George was expelled from the US Congress following a 311 to 114 vote – making him the first US House member to be ousted in more than 20 years.
Described as a ‘dark comedy’, the movie will tell the journey of man ‘who exploits the system, wages war on truth, and swindles one of the wealthiest districts in the country to achieve his American dream’, according to the online news website Deadline.
“Written by Mike Makowsky, the film tells the story of a seemingly minor local race that wound up a battle for the soul of Long Island, and unexpectedly carved the path for the world’s most famous (and now disgraced) congressmen,” the report added.
Mark Chiusano’s new book, The Fabulist: The Lying, Hustling, Grifting, Stealing and Very American Legend of George Santos, released on November 28, is believed to be the inspiration behind the much-anticipated movie.
It will be produced under the guidance of Frank Rich, known for executive production credits on the Emmy award-winning Succession and Veep.
An official release date for the movie is yet to be announced.
