Long-awaited deluxe reissue of SZA’s second studio album SOS (2022) releases tomorrow.
The new edition, titled Lana (stylised as LANA,) was teased by the singer immediately after the original album’s release, describing it as a ‘whole another album’ that will feature seven to 10 new tracks.
However, the final tracklist is yet to be confirmed.
She said earlier this year that the album was ‘shaping itself’ implying that it has been reworked.
The creative talent is known for her lyrics that tend to discuss insecurities and low moments in her life, however, she said in an interview ahead of the deluxe release that she has been ‘making music from a more beautiful place’.
“I’m not identifying with my brokenness. It’s not my identity,” the singer-songwriter said.
“Yeah, I experienced cruelty. I have to put it down at some point. Piece by piece, my music is shifting because of that,” she added.
Born Solána Imani Rowe, SZA titled her second album SOS after one of her nicknames, and the same goes for Lana, as it is a nickname she earned at 13 years old after she got the last four letters of her name tattooed, because she could not afford her full name.
