Interdepartmental rivalry was the flavour of the day at Awali Golf Club on Saturday, courtesy of the 59th annual outing of the Bapco Interdepartmental competition.
In a format having two simultaneous 18-hole competitions, those who are employees of Bapco formed teams of four players, with the best three Stableford scores contributing to the team’s overall score.
Husband and wife Rob and Debbie Lane enjoyed their first win in the new BMMI Shops Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club (RGC) with 34 points, putting them in fourth place in the overall order of merit after Week 3.
The duo of Todd Gillespie and Graeme Newport clinched second place in the Pairs Scramble competition with 35.5 points while Sattam Al Gosaibi and Haitham Haji came third with 36.1 points. Haji also won a nearest the pin side contest on hole 12.
The Captain’s Prize competition was held at Awali Golf Club on Friday with Abdul Elah Fakhroo, the club’s first Bahraini captain, sponsoring the event with an impressive array of prizes.
The Royal Golf Club’s outgoing 2014 Lady Captain, Dena Wales, presented Christine Gordon, founder of the RIA Centre, with a donation totalling BD1,000.
