(Tipped to succeed PM Tony Blair, Gordon Brown vows to sweep away Blair’s “sofa” style of government in which decisions are taken by a small clique of advisers, return to a Cabinet government, and give a greater role to Parliament)
Gordon Brown promises that when he
Becomes PM a change of furniture there’ll be
His taste is different so without doubt
He intends to throw Blair’s sofa out!
Though large and comfy with arms and backrest
Only a small group it can serve the best!
A small cosy group he doesn’t like a bit
He wants furniture on which more can sit
So that no one can suffer from neglect
A number of chairs he will select
With the circle expanded, decisions can be
Taken on discussions diverse, frank and free!
Gordon certainly has lots of pluck
But in the General Elections he’ll need luck
For polls are predicting Labour may lose
So the right kind of furniture he must choose
It’s so easy to build castles in the air
But if it crashes down he’ll need a wheelchair!
