Flying high with British Airways

IT’s thumbs up for BA this week! As any of you who’ve read my page recently will know travelling is not my favourite thing and a large part of that is due to the fact that airlines these days seem to be cutting corners left, right and centre.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a good word to say about any airline I’ve travelled on, despite claims of five star services, friendly skies etc…
This week though I’ve had to change my opinion and most surprisingly it’s all thanks to an airline I haven’t flown in many a year and seem to remember being more than a little bit pants the last time I did fly with them – British Airways.
It just so happened that they were doing the best deal to Portugal and back at the time that I needed it, so they were the airline of choice.
Where to start on my praise for them? From the incredibly professional booking (thank you, Emma) to the smooth landings of the pilots, BA did us proud.
Comfortable seats with a decent amount of leg room (even in steerage), a clever little gizmo that bends your headrest so that you can fall asleep without dislocating your neck, airline staff that actually smile and a very decent selection of in-flight entertainment and films are just the tip of the iceberg as far as I’m concerned.
I love the idea of checking in on-line and only having to drop your luggage off instead of queuing for hours at a check-in desk.
Only needing to show them your passport for them to have all your flight details and produce the necessary boarding passes for you (including those for connecting flights a day later) – another genius idea!
On one flight we even had a pilot that came out to greet his passengers and perform a little comedy routine before taking off on time. Note the ‘on time’ bit. Every flight I took left when it was supposed to leave and irritating delays were nowhere to be seen.
It’s hard to find anything negative to say. Hard, but not impossible (well it is me after all).
The food could do with a serious rethink but if that’s the only fault then they’re doing pretty damn well in my book.
