There’s been a big hoo ha in the UK recently about Channel 4 showing pictures of Princess Diana in the car after her accident in Paris.
The news back home was full of the huge outcry at how tasteless and wrong it is to include the pictures in a documentary and it seems her sons called for the pictures to be pulled. I can kind of see where the boys are coming from because if it was my mother I’d fight tooth and nail to stop it … but when you live in this part of the world and are subjected to the most horrific pictures of naked limbless children covered in blood on the front pages of the newspapers on a daily basis it seems like a big fuss over nothing … and you have to ask yourself whether people would complain as much if it were pictures of an ordinary Joe rather than the mother of the future king. Ten years on, she is still a highly debated issue when really we should have put it all behind us. How much do we hear about the charities she fought so hard to sustain and countless lives she tried to save? Would she herself want people to be arguing on and on about a few pictures or would she rather we used our time constructively to help those less fortunate than ourselves?
