Gulf Air has signed a sponsorship agreement with Bahrain’s rising motor racing star Hamad Al Fardan who is competing in the British Formula Three International Series.

The formal agreement was signed between Gulf Air’s executive vice-president marketing and sales Lee Shave and Mr Al Fardan at a special ceremony held at Gulf Air headquarters in Muharraq. Under the agreement, Gulf Air will cover all his races related travel – within the airline’s network – until February 2008. On his part, Mr. Al Fardan carries Gulf Air’s logo during the races which began earlier this year.

Batelco is sponsoring the annual staff event for the Saving and Lending Co-Operative Society of the Ministry of Information. Batelco general manager Ahmed Al Janahi presented a cheque to the society chairman Mohammed Ahmed Salman during a meeting at Batelco headquarters, Hamala. The society in turn presented Batelco with a gift from the ministry to thank the company for its continuous support and co-operation. The annual event, which featured competitions, traditional food and arts, henna and cultural programmes took place at the Batelco Staff Centre recently.

As part of its ongoing support of the community, Batelco, in co-ordination with local philanthropic societies, has commenced distribution of 18,000 Ramadan baskets to needy families across the kingdom. Each of gift basket weighs about 10kg comprising essential foodstuff that is traditionally in high demand during Ramadan. They will be delivered to the families by the supporting charities. Batelco is also distributing a similar number of bottled water packs to needy families.

“Customer service is the base of any successful business in the world,” said Faisal Al Asfoor, assistant manager of training and development for Y K Almoayyed & Sons, at the end of the Customer Service Project training course. It was conducted by Flextrain for Training and Consulting for staff of the firm’s Nissan divisions. The course has been carefully prepared by Abdulnabi Marhoon and Faisal M Al Asfoor to tackle the roles, responsibilities and techniques of successful customer service in the automobile industry. This training course has conducted as a part of the continuous development mobilisation that been fully supported and guided for the foreseeable future by the chairman Farouq Almoayyed and the company management.
