Bahrain’s golfing enthusiasts are getting all set to drive off at the annual AMH Island Classic charity golf tournament … and drive away in a prize car.
The event, currently in its 11th year, is staged under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad at his private golf course in Saffriya.
Businesses and companies can sponsor under the various levels, namely Diamond, Platinum, Emerald, Gold, Silver and Hole and enter teams to play during the three days of play which will be on November 15, 16 and 17.
The teams are divided under two categories – the championship flight and the premier flight – depending on their handicaps. Besides the prizes for the winning golfers every shift has its own side contests.
The side contest with the biggest prize is sponsored by E.K. Kanoo. This year’s ‘Hole-In-One Award’ is the Lexus LS460.
The grand finale of the event is a Gala Dinner on November 28 featuring a special evening of entertainment and awards ceremony for the sponsors of the tournament.
The leading sponsor this year is Riffa Views who are supporting the event as its only ‘Diamond Sponsor’.
Bahnaz Abbas, marketing & development coordinator and organiser of the Island Classic, said: “American Mission Hospital works in a variety of ways to help improve the quality of life around the island.
“The charity golfing event supports this by raising funds for much-needed medical equipment and development without adding to the patient’s costs.
“As American Mission Hospital is a not-for profit institute, in order to continue development and upgradation, we raise funds through the tournament.”
Golfing starts with a shotgun tee-off on Thursday, November 15 at 7.30am but the official opening ceremony will take place at noon.
The traditional 19th Hole party and official VIP closing ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 18 at the Bahrain International Circuit and is highlighted by a distribution of awards.
The organisers added that they wish all the players good luck in their bid to drive away in the brand new Lexus.
