Pupils' good show at carnival

In recent weeks I have gone on a rampage against the General Organisation for Youth and Sports, attacked the Minister of Education himself, went on another attack against reckless teenaged drivers in the kingdom and also complained for one whole column about the malls of Bahrain. I must really have been disturbed in the past month!

However, for this week's column, I will not launch an attack on anything, instead I would like to voice a huge gratitude to the companies in Bahrain that rallied around to help sponsor an event close to my heart.

It was such a relief and comfort in seeing companies such as Zain Bahrain, Solidarity, Gulf Dental Hospital and the Lost Paradise supporting the Modern Knowledge School Carnival.

The event attracted almost 1,200 members of the community - including many young people - for a fun-filled packed day for all the family.

It was also impressive to note that many of the stands were organised by us - students at the school.

Each stand made a certain profit that will be going towards funding our educational trips to foreign countries such as Cyprus and Italy.

The fact that students, aged below 18, could pull off such a successful event with just two months of preparation does say something big and wonderful.

It also raises a question that if we young people can organise such an event why can't the Ministry and Goys organise events such as a youth parliament and a youth forum?

Again, just as promised, I will not start complaining again ... but watch out for next week's column ...
