BAHRAIN'S Royal Endurance Team, led by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, pictured right, clinched the bronze medal in the World Endurance Horseride Championship at the Terengganu International Endurance Park in Malaysia.
His Majesty King Hamad led the kingdom in hailing Bahrain's performance at the event. In a cable congratulating the winners, His Majesty hailed Shaikh Nasser as a role model for Bahraini youth who are striving for a bright future in sports at the international level.
In the challenging 160-km race, Shaikh Nasser led his six-member team to third place behind winners the UAE and Qatar, who finished second. He was also eighth overall while another Bahraini Ghazi Al Dossary finished ninth.
The other members of the Bahrain team were Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Yousif Taher, Ahmed Abdulla and Raed Mahmood.
Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid were received at the airport by Crown Prince and President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
