Al Khan sets the pace in challenge

MUSTAFA Al Khan picked up his second victory of round one in the Batelco 2,000CC Challenge, on the sidelines of the Gulf Air Desert 400 V8 Supercars weekend.

Al Khan, driving a Honda Civic, clinched the 10-lap event in 19 minutes 46.2030 seconds. He finished 15 seconds ahead of runner-up Abdulrahman Ghuloom, while Michael Spahn bagged the final podium spot.

Meanwhile, in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, Darryl Young of Hong Kong and Christian Menzel of Germany each won a race.

Young took the first 17-lap event in 24:38.3384 for Team Jensen, finishing ahead of Menzel and Briton Tim Sugden. Menzel then claimed race two in 24:46.0968, ahead of Young and Sugden.

Elsewhere, Cabell Fisher of the US clinched the class 'A' victory in the DHL Gulf Radical Cup's second race of the weekend. The victor completed the 12 laps in 18:51.4414.

Classified behind him were John Stanley from the UK and Bassam Kronfli of Canada.
