POLICE have been keeping a vigil by the bedside of the survivor of a car bomb blast hoping he will recover to help them unravel the mystery surrounding the incident.
Ali Sa'ad's right wrist was severed in the explosion and he sustained extensive burns to his face and body and loss of sight.
The 24-year-old was believed to remain in a 'critical' condition, at the time GulfWeekly went to press.
His friend Moosa Jaffar Khalil Ebrahim, 30, died from injuries suffered in the explosion at 8pm on Thursday.
Metal and plastic pieces were found scattered inside and around the car along with three batteries, a metal screwdriver, a plastic handle and wires and detectives believe the blast was caused by a 'locally-made' bomb.
Mr Ebrahim had worked as a driver and labourer for a battery manufacturing company and his family claim he was on his way to have dinner at his friend's house when the incident happened. He leaves a wife and two daughters.
