Bahrain-based Hilal Computers has strengthened its partnership with Red Hat, the world's leading provider of open source solutions, with an agreement signed recently.

Under the terms of the agreement, Hilal Computers has become a Red Hat Advanced Business Partner for IT infrastructure. Previously, Hilal Computers was a Red Hat Ready Business Partner.

Hilal Computers is the only Red Hat-certified partner in Bahrain with the requisite technical and business capabilities to deploy Red Hat open source solutions and support in the local market.

This includes Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the leading platform for open source computing as well as middleware, applications and management solutions that offer a wide range of advantages for enterprises in the banking, oil and gas, telecommunications, education and healthcare sectors in Bahrain.

Anuj Kumar, senior director and general manager, Red Hat Middle East and Africa, said: "This partnership is an excellent fit for both parties and enables us to build on our expanding portfolio of products and services.

"As a Red Hat Advanced Business Partner, Hilal Computers is empowered to further expand the Red Hat customer base in Bahrain," he said.

Hardy Koshy, general manager, Hilal Computers, said: "Hilal Computers has been a Ready partner with Red Hat for two-and-a-half years. Red Hat Advanced Business Partner status is the culmination of our increased focus on the open source community in Bahrain."
