THERE was all-round excellent riding at the Breef Show Jumping Championships, sponsored by Al Frsan Group, at the Public Security Ground in Budaiya last Friday, writes Helen Blake.

The show was, as always, well attended and started with the Junior C class consisting of one round against the clock. The competition was fierce between Hussain Al Afoo riding Muhajer pipping his brother Hadi on Rikki Tikki Tavi in the jump off. Gabby Chakkos held her own taking third and fourth places in this class riding the popular Dilmun horses Tess and Nelson.

In the Junior B class, Oscar Lauri claimed his first double of the day, taking first place on Galopin and fifth on Emily, and followed suit with second and sixth placings in the Junior A class. Sophie Appleton, riding Al Khalidiah FaisMoiRire, started her double win of the day with a second place in the B class and then moving on to claim first place in the Junior A class.

The adults were in action in the afternoon, and it was Hassan Jaffar cleverly steering Cola to victory in the Senior class, closely followed by Jassim Isa Al Qattan and Al Jazira Kuwait. The second of the adult classes (Senior B) - a speed class - saw a tough battle won by Khalid Hilal Al Khatri astride Bashayer going clear with the winning time of 47.75seconds, followed by S Adnan Al Alawi on AlKhalidiah Pascal, and Shaikh Hassan bin Rashid Al Khalifa riding ARG Whoepie.

It was, however, the Grand Prix class that brought about a shake-up in the results with Juan Fernanded De Mesa claiming the title riding Iman De Olid and then clinching second place on his second mount Tarzan. Following Juan was another double win for Benny Diricx aboard AlKhalidiah Mikaela and AlKhalidiah AirForce One with third and fourth places, and completing the triple for this stable was Ali Essa Ali Jawad aboard AlKhalidiah Aberdeen Road.
