PGA Professional Martin Robinson triumphed in the second annual Speed Golf tournament at the Royal Golf Club, setting a blistering pace of just over 71 minutes to complete 18 holes on the Montgomerie championship course on foot.

In the Team Relay event, junior members Sam and Suzanna Hobday, Scott Wilkinson and Stuart Hutchison took first place by completing 36 holes in just over two hours.

The event, brainchild of 2010 vice captain Ed Daly, was held at the club for the second successive year. The competitors raised over BD1,000 in sponsorship which will be donated to the St John Ambulance charity.

"I've seen some sights today that I never thought I'd see on a golf course, and that was just the competitors' choice of running gear," joked John Wilson, the Royal Golf Club's key accounts manager.

"I've seen two players teeing off the same hole at the same time, five people running down the 18th fairway at the same time, a competitor falling into a bunker and Nathan Williams, manager of the Royal Country Club, snapping his driver on the 10th only to make birdie with half a club!"
