BMI Bank (BMI), the Bahrain-based associate of BankMuscat the largest financial services provider in Oman, has signed up Bahraini Olympian Sami Al Kooheji as its brand ambassador.
A ceremony was held at the bank's headquarters at the Bahrain World Trade Centre attended by officials from BMI Bank, the Bahrain Maritime Sports Association and BWTC.
The two-time world record holding sailor and airline pilot has signed a long-term agreement with BMI and will take on an active role in product advertising, public relations and visual marketing for the brand.
BMI CEO Andrew Bainbridge said: "Sami is an exceptionally talented athlete who inspires young Bahrainis to constantly aim beyond their wildest dreams and seek new challenges. Youthful and competitive, yet principled and focused, this local star embodies all the values that we, as a proud local bank, stand for."
Delighted Sami said: "It's great to be back racing competitively and I'm excited about representing Bahrain on the world sporting stage again. With the help of my new sponsors and partners I'm confident I can reach new goals. I never thought I would be working as a full time airline pilot and still be able to sail on the international circuit. Thanks to Air Arabia, one of my main sponsors and the airline I fly for, and my new sponsors BMI Bank and Audi Bahrain, the dream has become a reality."
In February, Sami launched his official comeback to sailing by announcing his bid to compete in the 2010 Asian Games being held in China in November. This campaign will see Sami compete in 15 international championships in the Middle East and Europe as part of his training programme.
