The last weekend of November was brought to a close with a host of activities. The most prestigious one being the Bahrain Animal Production Show 2010, or MaraŽe, held down at the Bahrain International Endurance Village.
This show has been widely promoted in the media and is featured in the centre pages of this week's GulfWeekly. On a personal note, we visited the show on Saturday afternoon to watch the Lipizzaner Stallion Performance, a truly spectacular show, giving all us dressage enthusiasts something to aspire to!
On a very similar note, Shakhoora Riding Centre held it 'Dressage to Music' event on Friday. The competitors brought their individual eclectic choices to the ring, ranging from the classical, to the likes of Glenn Millar, to present day pop.
Zain Al Thawadi and her inspired choice of I wanna be like you by Louis Prima, accompanied by Glasur's skilled performance fit for any king, secured her the top spot in the Preliminary Test.
Valerie Puls with her fabulous Pippa literally danced into first place in the Novice test, her virtuoso performance ridden to Duende from Gipsy Kings, the guitar music fitting Pippa's paces to perfection.
All competitors were pristine in their turnout and simply delightful in their performances.
Last Friday also saw the first of two show jumping clinics held at Twin Palms Riding Centre hosted by Ian Wright. More than 20 riders and their horses, from all ranges of abilities, took the opportunity to glean advice and expertise from the expert.
Riders have the opportunity to put their new found skills to the test this coming Friday as Twin Palms will host a dressage and show jumping competition judged by Ian.
Upcoming events - Dilmun Riding Centre Rodeo: The DRC will embrace the festive season by hosting an in-house Christmas rodeo on December 17.
With both adults and children riding, there will be everything a true rodeo can offer including barrel racing, bending, relays, bareback riding, you name it. Checked shirts, neckties, Stetsons, spurs and cowboy boots are all a must even for the spectators.
Twin Palms Riding Centre Christmas Gymkhana: TPRC is also getting geared up for the festive season and will host its annual Christmas Gymkhana on Saturday, December 11 for all its young riders. There are games such as Chase Santa round the Chimneys and an Xmas decoration dash! With festive elves, fairies and ponies, the event will be concluded with a visit from Mr Claus, himself, and with grub on the schedule it promises to be an afternoon not to be missed.
