Bahrain's students are being invited to experience a special event dedicated to young people attending universities in the kingdom.
Wahooo! Waterpark is hosting a 'Global Village' in partnership with international students' organisation, AIESEC.
Five international students have been invited to work as interns at the Bahrain City Centre attraction and help organise the March 19 event with the support of local AIESEC members.
The Global Village aims to offer university students a platform to share their views, display their talents, experience various cultures and enjoy the waterpark rides at the same time.
It will be offered exclusively to university students who can gain entry between 11am-8pm at a special pre-booked price by showing their university cards at the waterpark entrance.
Shaikh Khaled Salman Sabah Atiya Allah Al Khalifa, project manager of AIESEC's organising committee, said: "The purpose of the Global Village event is to celebrate and experience rich cultural diversity.
"We found that Bahrain does not cater to youth events that target university students as much as other age groups. We also felt that the event would be a good way to enrich our youths' mindsets by exposing them to different cultures, all with the outlook of promoting the realisation of our nation's Vision 2030."
Present in over 107 countries and territories and with more than 50,000 members, AIESEC is the world's largest student-run organisation. It provides a platform for youth leadership development, offers young people the opportunity to be global citizens, and aims to give them the experience and skills that matter today.
Students can expect to see at least 13 cultural stands in the Global Village presented by eight embassies and five individual countries represented by the specially flown-in interns from Mauritius, Vietnam, China, Malaysia and Senegal.
Each stand will highlight a cross section of cultural activities from music and food to clothes and traditional fashion.
Wahooo! waterpark executives believe the venue will prove to be an 'ideal' stage for AIESEC's Global Village, allowing university students of all age groups to meet informally, enrich their knowledge of foreign cultures, network and build friendships.
"It's a fun environment and youngsters will be able to see the various projects set up by students just like themselves. It will serve as an interesting learning experience for all," said Shama Uchil, sales and marketing manager at Wahooo! Waterpark.
The students are also being invited to participate in a talent show to showcase singing, break dancing, comedy sketches and other skills.
There will be folk dances, a DJ, treasure hunt and ceremonies to open and close the event which runs all day from 11am to 8pm.
One thousand discounted tickets at BD6 each are available to university students if booked prior to March 19, after which tickets will be available at standard prices. For details call 17173000.
