AMERICAN Idol is reaching out to former contestants to join as the potential new faces behind a judging panel led by Randy Jackson and singer Mariah Carey, pictured above. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler may have left the show to focus on their music, but fans are being kept excited for the new series to begin.
It was recently announced that the FOX network has contacted past contestants Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken, along with a few others to join the show and give their opinion on music, however nothing has been signed.
A source said: “Idol is reaching out to try and gauge the interest of former contestants coming back on the show to participate. They wouldn’t necessarily be in judging positions, but the show wants them involved.”
American Idol’s first winner Kelly Clarkson showed her support for Carrie Underwood and when asked if she would make a good judge, she said: “She would! Didn’t she major in journalism or something?”
Adam Lambert also commented on the potential of starring as a judge: “If they were to approach me, I would jump at the chance.”
