Gulf Weekly Greenkeepers test for golfers

The annual Greenkeepers’ Revenge Tournament at the Royal Golf Club is an event which allows the Greenkeeping team to set up the Montgomerie Course at its most devilishly difficult to test the very best golfers. They did not disappoint on this occasion.

Played in Texas Scramble format, the scoring was surprisingly good. Most appropriately, as it coincided with the staging of the London 2012 Olympic Games, it was a team made entirely of British nationals who came out on top.

Birthday boy Paul Carpenter, along with Joy Groves, Dena Wales and in-form David Wales returned an excellent score of 64.5 nett to lift the spoils.

These were followed by Vice Captain Rob Lane, Debbie Lane, Ray Bruhn and Kevin Ross in second place with 65.3 nett.

Third place went to the team of Todd Graham, Chris Leaden, Chris Core and Samantha Jones who returned 65.6 nett.
