Royal Golf Club senior teaching professional Tim Backhouse continued his stranglehold on the ECCO Monday Stableford series shooting an impressive 29 points in searing conditions. Tim’s round included a tap-in birdie on the Par 5 14th.

He narrowly defeated scratch golfer Andy Weiser by one point after the pair fought a ding-dong battle going right down to the 18th hole.

Third place went to Awali Golf Club head professional and GulfWeekly columnist Matt Chalmers one point further back on 27.

Tim has now raced into a big lead in the Order of Merit for this series with 20 cumulative points with his nearest pursuer fellow PGA Professional, Cormac Flannery, on nine cumulative points.

The ECCO Monday Stableford series is open to non-members at a cost of BD30 per person for the 18-hole event.

Tee-off time is every Monday at 1.30pm with a shotgun start.
