The Royal Golf Club’s annual F1 Scramble competition was won by an all Bahraini team consisting of Shaker Hubail, Ali Jassim and Ebrahim Essa. The trio’s team score of 58.2 was enough to leave them in pole position in the Texas Scramble competition, in which they birdied every one of the back nine holes apart from hole 15.

Without dropping a shot in the entire 18 holes, they romped home one shot clear of the second-placed team consisting of Paul Carpenter, Joy Groves and Dena and David Wales, who finished with a score of 59.6, which included a hole in one from Carpenter on the second hole.

The Ministry of Interior team of Mohammed Al Sayed, Salman Al Gatam, Salah Musbah and Mohammed Al Fedhala made up the top three with a score of 60.5.

More than 90 golfers took part in the popular tournament which took place on the Club’s Montgomerie championship course.

“Even Paul’s hole in one wasn’t quite enough to stop Shaker’s team,” said John Wilson, the Royal Golf Club’s golf sales & events manager. “It was a great scramble score and a well deserved win.”

Results: 1 Shaker Hubail, Ali Jassim, Ebrahim Essa (nett 58.2), 2 David & Dena Wales, Paul Carpenter, Joy Groves (59.6), 3 Mohamed Al Sayed, Salman Al Gatam, Salah Musbah, Mohamed Al Fedhala (60.5).
