Hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones will return for a fourth season, which its makers say will include more shocking twists as the power struggle for control of the realm continues.

Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, announced that he feels confident his character won’t be killed off next season, saying ‘he isn’t going anywhere’.

This is a bold statement considering the fact that season one starred Sean Bean, whose character was killed off in the ninth episode!

In season two, Dinklage took over as the show’s unofficial lead but the tables turned again in season 3, which really doesn’t have a main character and thus provides the 27 series regulars with roles of varying significance.

“He’s a survivor,” Dinklage said. “He crawls his way back, to a certain extent. But that’s what’s fun about this character. He’ll make the best out of every situation no matter what position he’s put in.”

Meanwhile, Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, has said her character needs to stay ‘on her own’ in future seasons.

The current season of Game of Thrones has seen Arya roaming the kingdom on her own while trying to find her scattered family.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the young starlet said that Arya is at her best when she is forced to fend for herself.

“Arya should be on her own. Maybe she sees her family again, but a lot has happened – she’s seen so many things that it’s never going to be the same,” she explained.

Williams also described how she deals with the fame that comes with starring in a global hit series.

“It happened gradually. When all this started, I was 12, and when the show first aired, I was 13, maybe 14,” she said. “The show got bigger and bigger each season, so we’ve had a chance to adjust to it all.

“As long as I’m having fun, I really don’t mind what happens. I know Arya is a very well-liked character, and I would never want to not do her justice, so I’m trying my best to think how a scene would go and what I think she’d say. If other people agree with me, that’s really good!”

Although it currently hasn’t been announced what season four will draw on from George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire saga, it is expected that material will come from the back half of the third book A Storm of Swords.

Martin previously announced that he would like to write more episodes. He has currently written three scripts for the drama but says his commitment to the original novels limits his involvement with the TV version.

Game of Thrones airs every Monday at 10pm on OSN First HD.
