When we are on the driving range we tend to practice from a flat surface and use alignment aids to help. However, when playing on the golf course, we experience uneven surfaces which can be rather more challenging.
It is important to understand what different lies do to the ball flight and if you can master this, it will help you execute a better golf shot.
When the ball lies above your feet you need to be prepared for the ball to go left because the club face has tilted to this direction. Stand taller to this lie, aim more to the right of the target to allow for the ball to curve left in its flight and also go a little down on the grip because the ball is slightly nearer to you when it’s above your feet.
When the ball is below your feet the ball is going to have a tendency to go to the right because the face is tilted in this direction. Bend your knees a little bit more than usual, aim left of the target to allow the ball to curve right in its flight. Hold further up the grip so the club feels longer as the ball is in fact further away from you being below your feet, the opposite of the ball being above your feet.
