STUDENT Sam Hobday, pictured right, who plays golf as well as studies at a US university, fought off tough competition to be crowned the Royal Golf Club’s Scratch Champion 2014 after achieving a superb four under par 68 in the final round.
Added to his first round score of 77, it gave him a gross total of 145. As featured in GolfWeekly, the 20-year-old secured a hole-in-one on the 7th in the qualifying round.
Bahrain national golf team player Nasser Yacoob, who topped the first round with a one over 73, had a slightly less impressive second round of 75, leaving him to settle for the runners-up spot with gross 148. Sultan Al Hakam came third with a total gross score of 156 after rounds of 83 and 74.
