Gulf Weekly Armstrong tops order of merit contest

TEACHER Ronan Armstrong pictured right, took first place in the gross section and third place in the nett section of the monthly DHL Order of Merit competition at the Royal Golf Club.

His gross score of 75 was enough to push former St Christopher’s School pupil Sam Hobday into second place in the gross division with 77 while Matthew Deakin took third place with 78. Deakin topped the gent’s nett category with a score of 68. Paddy Gallagher was runner-up on 72 and Armstrong, third with 74 on countback.

Sara Thompson topped the ladies gross division for the second consecutive month with a score of 94. Hanne Hansen was second on 95 and Dena Wales third with 98. Their positions were reversed in the nett category with Dena taking first place on 79, Sara runner up on 80 and Hanne third with 82.

Yaseen Le Falher clinched the junior nett division of the popular Members’ series with a score of 74 and Taimur Malik was runner-up with 97.

Rob Lane now has a rival in Armstrong with the duo tied for top spot.
