Gulf Weekly Al Noaimi wins Airmech Medal

With Awali Golf Club players suffering from ‘golf withdrawal symptoms’ following the various closures of the course due to the recent rains, they turned out in force for the first 2016 competition on Friday – the Airmech Medal.

The enforced rest obviously suited Ahmed Al Noaimi who topped both sides of the competition with the lowest gross score of 71, making him the overall winner, and which also gave him the lowest net score of 66 in Division 1.

Airmech has sponsored a medal competition at Awali Golf Club since the 1981/82 season and the fixture is unusual in that, along with only two other weekend competitions and the Bahrain Open Championships, the overall winner is the player with the lowest gross score.

Al Noaimi was presented the Airmech Eastern Electric Cup by David Bailey, the sponsor’s representative and past club captain.

Results:
Division 1
Overall winner: Ahmed Al Noaimi (gross 71), runner-up: Mohammed A Salmeen (73), 3rd Pete Rogers (78).
Division 2
1st Floris Brand (82), 2nd Bill Scarth (82), 3rd John Parker (87).
Division 3
1st Jeffrey Barrett (80), 2nd Ariette Paul (90), 3rd Tim Beynon (90).
