Gulf Weekly Dazzling Debbie wins

Debbie Lane won the inaugural British Airways Open at the Royal Golf Club with a score of 39 points. Saqer Al Noaimi was a close runner-up with 37 points while nearest-the-pin side contests on holes 7 and 12 were won by Ronan Armstrong and Mohamed Al Sayed, respectively.

More than 55 golfers competed in the weekend’s stableford tournament and had to battle strong wind and rising sand throughout as well as a light rain shower towards the end of the event. However, a great time was had despite the challenging conditions and all competitors enjoyed a BBQ served in the Members’ Lounge after play.

Prizes were distributed by Ajit Lobo, British Airways account manager Bahrain. Debbie received a premium economy return ticket to any British Airways destination of her choice and Al Noaimi was presented with an economy return ticket to the destination of his choice.

“Thank you to British Airways for their sponsorship of the tournament,” said Sohail Singh, the club’s tournament co-ordinator. “We look forward to further collaborations in future.”

Results: 1st Debbie Lane (39 points), 2nd Saqer Al Noaimi (37). Nearest the pins: Ronan Armstrong (hole 7) & Mohamed Al Sayed (hole 12).
